Former South African President Nelson Mandela died today December 5th, at the age of 95. Known for his fight to end the racist policy of apartheid, Mandela became an international figure during his 27 years in prison for conspiring to overthrow South Africa‘s government. After being released from prison in 1990, he went on to win the Nobel Peace Prize in ’93 and later became South Africa‘s first Black president.
